Goodwin & Goodwin's Light Up Letters are handcrafted, fairground-style illuminated letters made individually in our London workshop. Each 40cm letter is fitted with warm white LED bulbs behind clear cabochon covers, creating the distinctive faceted glow of classic marquee and vintage signage. Order the letters you need to spell any word, name, or message — they're equally at home in a bar, restaurant, retail space, office, or home interior.

Available in two finishes: silver-painted backs with metal side returns for a classic look, or a rust effect finish for an industrial, raw aesthetic. Each letter comes wired with a sealed UK plug and two picture-hanging rings at the rear for straightforward wall mounting. Every piece is hand-built, tested, and finished using solvent-free paints.

Care Instructions
  • Wipe the letter surface with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive materials that may scratch the painted or rust-effect finish
  • Clean the cabochon bulb covers gently — they are clear plastic and can be scratched by rough cloths or chemical cleaners
  • Do not use water near the bulb fittings or plug. Always switch off and unplug before cleaning
  • If a bulb fails, replace it with an E14 warm white LED bulb (available separately). Switch off the power before replacing any bulb
  • Indoor use only. Do not expose to rain or prolonged moisture. Contact us if you require an external or weatherproofed version.
FAQs

How do I order a full word or name?

Add each letter individually to your cart. If you need multiples of the same letter (e.g. two Ls for "HELLO"), add that letter twice. Contact us at sales@goodwinandgoodwin.com if you'd like help planning your order.

What's the difference between the silver and rust finishes?

The silver finish has painted metal backs and side returns for a clean, classic look. The rust finish gives each letter a raw, industrial corten-steel effect. Both use the same warm white LED bulbs and cabochon covers.

Can these be used outdoors?

The standard letters are rated for indoor use only. If you need an outdoor or weatherproofed version, contact us at sales@goodwinandgoodwin.com to discuss options.

What bulbs do the letters use, and can I replace them?

The letters are fitted with E14 warm white LED bulbs. Replacement bulbs are available separately in our store — search for E14 LED Bulbs. Always switch off the power before replacing a bulb.
