The Cinema Light Box is a vintage-style illuminated sign inspired by the marquee displays of classic American movie theatres, drive-ins, and diners. Clear plastic letters, numbers, and symbols slot into horizontal channels on the front face of an illuminated satin black aluminium box — you can change the message whenever you like, simply by rearranging the characters by hand.

The double-line version gives you two rows of text, accommodating around 14 characters per line. It comes supplied with a full set of clear plastic letters (A–Z with duplicates), numbers (0–9), and symbols, fitted with low-voltage LEDs, and connected to a standard UK plug via a 2m black cable — ready to use straight out of the box.

An optional remote control dimmer is available and must be specified at the time of ordering; it cannot be added after manufacture. Designed and made in our London workshop, with a one-year warranty included.

Care Instructions

Wipe the aluminium frame with a soft damp cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. Dry thoroughly.
Clean the clear plastic letter channels and front face with a soft, lightly damp cloth — do not use abrasive pads or solvents, which will scratch and cloud the surface.
Store unused letter cards in the supplied bag or a dry container to prevent loss and keep them clean.
Do not expose the unit to direct heavy rain or submerge it — while the LEDs are low-voltage, the unit is not rated for fully outdoor use without appropriate shelter.
If a letter card becomes stained or discoloured, wipe it gently with a soft damp cloth.

FAQs

How do I change the letters?

The clear plastic letter cards simply slot into the horizontal channels on the front face of the light box. No tools are required — rearranging the display takes moments.

Can I add a dimmer after purchase?

No. The remote control dimmer must be specified and installed at the time of manufacture. It cannot be added to the unit after delivery. If you think you may want dimming control, select the dimmer option when ordering.

What characters are included?

Each unit comes with one full pack of 6-inch clear plastic characters: A–Z with duplicates, 0–9 with duplicates, and the symbols '/', '%', '.', '*', '$', '!', and '-'. Note: £ and € symbols are not available.

Is this suitable for outdoor use?

The unit is designed for indoor use or sheltered outdoor locations. It should not be exposed to direct heavy rain. For fully outdoor illuminated signage, consider one of our weatherproof light box options.
