    Traditional Wooden 'A' board

    The Traditional Wooden A-Board is a heavy-duty pavement sign built from solid timber with a molded frame and solid brass hardware.

    Handcrafted in our London workshop and built to last — a noticeably more substantial piece than most pavement boards on the market, and one that suits businesses where the quality of the furniture outside reflects the quality of what is inside.

    Great for cafés, museums, businesses, shops, pubs, bars and restaurants.

    Suitable for internal and external use.

    Made to order, we can add cut vinyl graphics to your A board and have a choice of colours available or we can leave the board blank so you can add your own sign writing or graphics. Approximate build time is 10-15 working days depending on the level of customisation.

    Care Instructions
    • Wipe the frame with a soft damp cloth to remove dirt and surface marks. Dry thoroughly, particularly after wet weather.
    • Do not submerge or hose down the board — prolonged exposure to standing water will damage the timber.
    • If the board is used outdoors regularly, treat the timber frame with an appropriate wood preservative or exterior varnish annually to maintain weather resistance.
    • The brass hardware will naturally develop a patina over time. Polish with a brass cleaner if you prefer to maintain a bright finish.
    • Clean vinyl graphics with a lightly damp cloth only. Avoid solvent-based cleaners, which will lift or discolour the vinyl.
    • If the board has a chalkboard surface, use standard chalk or chalk markers only. Clean with a dry cloth or slightly damp sponge.
    • Store indoors when not in use to extend the life of both the timber and any applied graphics.
    FAQs

    Can I order the board without any graphics?
    Yes. The blank option is ideal if you plan to add your own hand-painted lettering, chalk work, or have a local sign writer apply graphics. The frame will be painted in your chosen colour and supplied ready to work on.

    What paint colours are available?

    Standard black, standard white, and chalk blackboard paint are available as set options. We can also match any RAL colour — specify your reference at checkout or contact us at sales@goodwinandgoodwin.com to confirm availability.

    Can the artwork be applied to both sides?

    Yes. Vinyl graphics are applied to both faces of the board as standard.

    Can I get a larger size?

    Yes. The standard board is 600mm × 900mm, but we can produce larger sizes to order. Contact us at sales@goodwinandgoodwin.com or call 0208 829 0599 with your dimensions for a quote.

    Is this suitable for outdoor use?

    Yes, though we recommend storing the board indoors overnight or in wet weather to protect the timber long-term. The brass hardware is robust, but the timber will benefit from periodic treatment if kept outside continuously.

    Can I supply my own artwork?

    Yes. Upload your file at checkout or email it to sales@goodwinandgoodwin.com. Vector files only — PDF, EPS, or AI. Raster files such as JPEGs are not suitable for cut vinyl.
